Bentley University Awards First-Ever Doctoral Degree PHD PROJECT NEWS
Bentley University has awarded its first-ever doctoral degree to AAA Member Kwadwo N. Asare. Dr. Asare earned a Ph.D. in Accountancy after successfully defending his dissertation "Essays on the Influence of Corporate Governance on Financial Analysts' Forecast-Related Judgments." He received his official degree on May 16, 2009 at the commencement ceremony for the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University. Asare came to study at Bentley through KPMG's PhD Project, a program that helps increase diversity in business by first increasing the diversity of business faculty in America's colleges and universities. A Tribute to Donald H. Skadden AAA PAST PRESIDENT
Don Skadden died on February 8, 2005, in Sanford, North Carolina, after an illness lasting several years. Professor Skadden's service to the academic side of the accounting profession was long and tireless. He worked on numerous committees for the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). For many years he managed a summer tax program for Haskins & Sells at the University of Illinois and then for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) at the University of Michigan. Dean Doyle Williams Honored CHAIR ESTABLISHED
The University of Arkansas has established a chair in accounting in honor of Doyle Z. Williams, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business for almost 12 years. The Doyle Z. Williams Chair in Professional Accounting will be endowed by funds from the $300 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation. Financial Accounting Foundation News

COSO Fraud Report Released
The final report on research commissioned by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) has been released. The study, Fraudulent Financial
Reporting: 1987-1997, provides a comprehensive analysis of fraudulent
