Dear Colleagues,

The AICPA, the University of Denver, and the Colorado Society of CPAs are offering an outreach program for minority community college students who are between their first and second years. They are inviting selected students to an all-expense paid trip to Denver to live on campus from July 31-Aug 4 and learn about the accounting profession.

They are particularly interested in attracting high-achieving African-American, Hispanic and Native American students who will have just completed their first year of undergraduate study, primarily those who have an interest in accounting and second-year accounting majors.

The students will engage in activities to learn about accounting, professional development, financial literacy, and accounting education at four-year schools. They will visit an accounting firm and a company, in addition to participating in several other enriching and fun activities.

I have attached an application. Please feel free to give this to interested students. An application for a scholarship can be found here. The application deadline is May 18.

Thank you for your help in identifying promising students for this program. I will be glad to keep everyone posted about participants and their experiences.
